Introductory Post

Hey class, my name is Kevon Haughton and im currently a Junior enrolled in the School of Public Administration as a Public Service Economics concentration major. I reside in Newark and have done so since 2009. Being native means that I have seen the ways in which power relations move in fluid ways throughout the city. A city hated or loved depending on whom you confronted; this power dynamic isn't static its intersectional. The intersection of race, class and gender is obvious as the sovereign controls its populace.

I chose this class as a means of giving a voice to my want for the understanding of patriarchy. Moreover a understanding of white supremacist power relations as it controls patriarchal spaces. Blackness is the opposition to whiteness; therefore the feminist struggle is one of a blackened experience. An experience that should be understood and appreciated.

The picture below represents the constant nature of the power dynamic between the man and the woman. It illustrates his superiority complex and his overall patriarchal nature.
