Neil Waldron - Final Project

Over the course of this semester, we have discussed the role of women in society with a focus on fine arts. There is no doubt that this oppression exists among us in art. I wanted to take some time and try to get some respect for street art. I feel that as a "genre" in the art world, it is still seen as somewhat of a lesser area. Even with the sudden surge of popularity among society thanks to artists like Banksy, Kaws, and others, the way in which this art is discussed is way too basic to gain the respect.

The Street Art Syndicate is an outlet to do just that. The intention of this blog will be for people to visit and critique street art in a way that one would critique a Picasso painting or a Van Gogh piece. Also, this blog will have options to submit anonymously for critique as well. So, if you or anybody else you know wants the opinion of peers on work, this is the perfect place to do it. Also, I'm open to questions from anybody about art or issues pertaining to the street art genre. This is not just a picture blog even though there will be many. On each entry the ability to comment will be there and the comments are also anonymous. What I want is to start a conversation about art.

For the future, I plan on writing more articles about specific street artists as well as referencing news articles and mentioning upcoming shows or exhibitions about street art. In order to get the message out there, I have also created a Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram page to coincide with the main blog.

The main point of all of this? I want this...
Vincent Van Gogh - The Starry Night

and this...
Wildstyle Piece by Cope2
to be held in the same light. Together, let's make the street the gallery. This can only be done with discussion and exposure from myself and you. Welcome to the syndicate.
